The Ranked Result
Very recently, I wanted to test myself and see just how easy it is to Ranked Solo queue climb from Gold all the way to Master as fast as possible. I am a Mid player that can fill any role if required and my main is Yasuo. Unfortunately, Yasuo is perma-banned in the Asian server but I have a lot of backup champions. In the North America server, it took me a total of two weeks to reach Master with 14 marks playing around a total of 160 games.

On the other hand, it took me 1 week and around 170 games in the Asia server to reach Master.

Most Important Things I Learned
Here are the things I learned while climbing the ranked mode in Wild Rift:
-
Poor Role Filling System:
I can’t emphasize enough how poor the role-filling system is in Wild Rift. For around 60% of my games, I had to play other roles than Mid. This simply means that you have to learn how to play every role in the game if you want to climb fairly fast. My preferences for my roles are mainly focused on a few things: Roles that can impact the map, roles that can be dangerous if fed, and roles that require a decent macro to win the game. To learn more about roles and common misconceptions read here.

-
Main Champions in Every Role:
You need at least 1 main that you are comfortable playing in each role. Since the game fills you with different roles from time to time; you need to learn how other roles work. Even though I am a mid-main, I can still play Nunu Jungle with an 80% win rate or Vayne with a 70% win rate, or even DR. Mundo with a 71.4% win rate.

-
Good Team Composition:
I’d say around 90% of games won in rank Diamond up are through champion picks. It is definitely much easier to win games with bad picks in the lower ranks if you have the mechanics/skills to make up for it. It’s a must to have some variability in your main role. When you have too many AD champions in your team then you want to pick an AP character. When there are too many assassins then you want to pick a tank for the team.

In the example above, I picked last and noticed we needed another tank that has a good CC which helped won us the game. This allows me to counter-pick the enemy picks and complement the team’s composition. There are way too many people who are overly proud of having a high mastery score in a single champion. I can’t even count how many times people flash their mastery score or them being in the top 100 in the server with one character and end up being very mediocre. Do you really think you can win when you have a pyke support, fizz mid, and you end up picking a kha-zix jungle just because you are top 100 in the server? Who is going to tank for the ADC? Who is going to hold the team fights long enough to get objectives? Imagine how much better the odds of winning are if you know how to play Rammus or Nunu. -
Focus on Key Objectives
This is a quick reminder that Wild Rift is a team game. Unfortunately, the jungle can’t secure objectives if it is always an unfair advantage for the enemy team. You always need to be ready when the time comes to secure objectives. Here are some quick notes: Scuttle spawns at 1:25 minute and respawns every 2 minutes, Dragon Spawns at 4 minutes and respawns every 4 minutes, Herald Spawns at 4 minutes and respawns one more time after 4 minutes before the 1o minute mark, and lastly Baron spawns at the 1o minute mark replacing the Herald if still alive while respawning every 3 minutes.

Make it Easier for Jungle to Gank
Do you ever think “Why do I keep getting ganked and my team jungler never ganks my lane?” Well, it’s pretty simple, have you set up your lane to be easily ganked? Are you constantly pushing your minions to the enemy tower? Did you ward the bush on where the enemy jungle might gank from? These are things that most players seem to miss. You need to learn how to freeze your lane at your tower and clear enemy wards when possible. This makes it so much easier for your jungle to gank. All you need to do is ping them and tell them you’ve set it up perfectly. You also need to understand the most simple jungle pathing. Typically jungle will contest scuttle crab at the 1:25 minute mark and will either gank lanes or continue farming. They will also consider ganking after clearing up their whole jungle which is when they are around level 4-5. The way that they decide which lane to gank is with these three pieces of information: how far up the lane is pushed, who is losing, and which lane is closest to where they are.

-
Covering Each Other
Even though you are a mid-player, the top and bottom towers are also your towers. Stop thinking “Top tower is the top player’s responsibility and not mine.” This type of mentality will lose you your games. When another lane dies and you just finished shoving your lane, go cover it for them. you won’t lose that much time but will stop the enemy from gaining plates/money for free. This concept is even more important for jungle players. Don’t be too overly focused trying to finish your pathing that you let the enemy take free tower plates or even the whole tower.

Early Game and Gold Maximization
Take note that, 5 stacks of turret plating give 875 Gold (175 gold per plate × 5 plates), with an additional 300 Gold for taking down the turret. On the other hand, the first blood is 300 gold. Making sure that you win early and getting all of this money could be the main factor in your win. You don’t always have to mirror what your lane opponent does as long as you can secure other objectives. For example, you have a TF as your opponent in mid that can teleport to other lanes at any time. In some situations when you can’t follow him, ping your friends when he has his ultimate up and shove his lane fast if he decides to gank.

Let’s do some quick math: 1 kill is worth 350 gold and an assist gives you 175 gold, while 1 melee minion grants 65 Gold, a caster minion grants 40 Gold, and a siege minion grants 85 Gold. Let’s say TF decides to gank another lane while you have a minion wave with 1 canon, 1 range, and 2 melees. This gives you a total of 255 gold + the number of plates you were able to get in that time. A total of 430 (255 from minions + 175 from plates) gold vs 350 gold if TF gets a kill or only 175 if he gets an assist. Then you can gank other lanes with your gold lead when you can.
Conclusion
To sum everything up, you need to be able to understand simple strategies like lane management, how other roles work, and the mechanics of the game. Simple things like how much gold is gained from kills or tower plating can give you an unfair advantage later on. I truly believe that you can easily climb the ranks if you can understand all of the points made above. Good luck, and Have Fun!
